Did You Know: 10 Facts Ospray


                          

1.We're commanded not to eat the Osprey it's an abomination to eat them. Lev. 11:3-20 and Deut. 14:17

2. Their diet is fish, birds, reptiles and crustaceans.They are called the fish hawk and using context clues they get that name because of their lifestyle and diet.


3.They Migrate each year before the fall months but as individuals not in groups or packs as other birds or insects. 

4.They are in the Accipitnidae Family which is basically the{Hawk Family} it's a family of large birds with strongly hooked bills and variable morphology based on diet.

5. 99% of fish is a Osprey diet

6.They're found in temperate and tropical regions

7.Their lifespan is 7-10 years

8.Surprisingly eagles and owls are the predators to more of the adult Osprey. Raccoons and snakes are predators to the Osprey's baby eggs

9. Sometimes submerges completely and might even swim for a short distance. the Osprey has nostrils that can close to keep out the water. It prefers to eat only fish, but may eat small mammals if food is scarce.

10.They can fly at 80 mph. 

11. Also they have a scientific name pandion haliaetus so when you hear this name or see it you know it's Osprey.

Most common weight in the Hebrew system. Weigh 11.4 grams .Use to measure silver, gold spices, brass, fine flour, iron, hair, barley, and meat
Gerah
The smallest unit in the Hebrew system weigh= smaller than a shekel
Bekah
1/2sheckel named only once in the KJV payed by each Israelite man twenty years-old and upward . [ Exo. 28:36]

Mina or Mene
A weight equal to 50 shekels or 60 shekels /was written by a single hand on the wall stating ‘’God hath numbered the kingdom and finished it’’
Pound
Roman Weight= 340 grams or 12 ounces. Use to measure precious ointments like myrrh and aloes
